What is Cold-Process Soapmaking?

The original way of making soap. Cold process soap is made by combining fat (from butter and oils) with sodium hydroxide (also known as lye). This creates a natural chemical reaction called saponification. After saponification takes place, nourishing oils remain giving the soap a rich, creamy lather. Natural Soapmaking is not only science, but an art form to enjoy and appreciate as you handcraft something useful and beautiful for yourself and your loved ones.
